What is
the Massachusetts Safe Routes to School program?
The
Massachusetts Safe Routes to School (SRTS) program promotes healthy
alternatives for children and parents in their travel to and from
school. The SRTS program aims to reduce congestion, air pollution, and
traffic conflicts near participating schools, while increasing the
health and mobility of school-aged children. Massachusetts Safe Routes
to School, a program of MassRIDES, is a service of
the
Massachusetts Executive Office of Transportation and is supported
by MassHighway and the Federal Highway
Administration.

What
will you learn at the SRTS Forum?
The
Forum is a chance to learn about SRTS best practices,
lessons learned,
community initiatives, and infrastructure safety enhancements, while
networking with school partners, stakeholders, and
enthusiasts.
Learn firsthand from principals, parents,
police officers, and
community partners statewide how to successfully launch and sustain a
SRTS program. Topics will include education and
encouragement
programs, such as Walking School Buses, and
evaluation, enforcement,
and engineering strategies.
Successful SRTS partner schools and
communities will be recognized for their achievments.
